Imagine my surprise when I found out I was deficient in Vitamin D.  I take quite a few natural supplements and try to eat healthy.

During a recent visit to my doctor he decided to do a check on my Vitamin D level.  He said that they were finding that a vast majority of people living in Pennsylvania were deficient due to more clouds than sunshine.

Sure enough…when the results came back my level was low..not terribly but the reference range was 32.0 to 100.0 and mine was 22.8.  He prescribed me 1 capsule of Vitamin D 50,000 units per week for 8 weeks and now on a maintenance dose of 1.000 units per day.

I learned that although the recommendation is 400 to 800 IU per day that some doctors suggest between 2,000 to 4,000 a day and some naturopaths suggest you can take 5,000 IU per day to maintain optimal levels.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for many of your body’s functions, including normal bone growth and overall health.  Vitamin D3, or Cholecalciferol is the preferred form of the nutrient.  It is the form that is found naturally in animal food sources and as a result of your skin’s exposure to the sunlight.  In addition to being a very important part of supporting calcium absorption, Vitamin D may support many other areas of your health including cardiovascular, cognitive, neurological, blood sugar, breast, colon, thyroid, joint to name a few.

While Vitamin D may be obtained through healthy food choices and is manufactured by your body when exposed to the sun, many people, including the elderly, vegetarians and those living in colder, cloudy climates may require additional supplementation.  I have learned that to get a sufficient amount of sun daily a person would need to lay out in the sun in the nude daily for a half hour ….uhhh  not happening here. LOL.

I wanted to share this with you as you may want to consider having your Vitamin D level checked at your next doctor visit.  As we all know that most vegetation grown these days is just not as packed with the nutrients that they once were years ago so it makes it necessary to take additional supplements.

I am not suggesting that you run out and buy a huge bottle of Vitamin D and take mega doses.  I wanted to pass this info along to make you aware so you can check into it..do some research and make an informed decision regarding your health.

Hello my friends

I would like to share with you what a huge difference this little device has made in my life.

I am so grateful for The Whole Wellness Club adding the Avazzia products to their product line.

Last year September 2009 I reached into my dishwasher…a simple task I do numerous times daily and I felt an intense pain in my lower back.  It took me several minutes to be able to stand straight and even then I was in a lot of pain.  This pain became more severe throughout the day that I could barely walk and a few hours later actually ended up on the floor in terrible pain.

I went to the Chiropractor and over the next few months he helped me considerably but I had reached a plateau where I just wasn’t improving anymore.  I could walk but with a hobble and I still would experience pain & stiffness…could not walk the stairs, could not carry anything, could not vacuum…actually was very limited with my movement.  My lower back, right hip and right leg was just not the same and I actually started thinking about getting a cane.  Even if I tried doing certain things with my left arm it would pull on my right side.  It was affecting my whole life.  Simple things too … like just getting up out of a chair or bed was painful.  I felt old and disabled.

The article below about pH balance is very good but can be a bit technical for most (including myself) so  I’ve always found the best and simplest way to explain pH to someone is using the example of a swimming pool.  Now not everyone has a swimming pool but they still get the idea.  In a swimming pool the pH has to be within a certain range for the pool water to remain crystal clear and bacteria free.  When the pH is out of balance, either high or low the water becomes cloudy, can have a strange odor and unsafe to swim in because of bacteria growth.  It can become cloudy and/or green from algae growth.  So similar to our bodies….if our pH control is not properly balanced then we do not feel well and bacteria and disease can begin to grow and thrive in us.  The biggest problem most experience is being too acidic.  I hope this was helpful as well as the following info.

Although it is generally accepted that pH is the inverse logarithm of the concentration of hydrogen ions, the concepts of this almost mathematical definition are virtually impossible to understand. What it really means is that pH tells us the quantity of hydrogen ions in a solution and more specifically, for what concerns us here, in the human body. Hydrogen ions have a positive electric charge and there is a constant state of equilibrium between these and other hydroxide ions which have a negative charge. The result of this interplay is that the quantities of both in a solution will always remain constant (ionic result), because if one rises then the other must inevitably fall. When the number of “hydrogen ions” rises, the positive electrical charge will rise and the negative charge, in the form of OH or “hydroxide ions”, will fall. In such a case we say that we are in a state of acidosis and, in the opposite case, when the negative charges predominate, we would be in alkalosis. As we can easily deduce, the oscillation of these electrical charges creates an electromagnetic field and this is the first moment in scientific medicine that such fields are mentioned. In physics, a magnetic field is defined as that place in space where electromagnetic forces occur and, since Maxwell the concepts of electrical charge and electromagnetic charge have been intertwined. So when we speak of pH, we are also speaking of electromagnetic fields due to the oscillation.

Every living biological system, be it an ant, a plant or a bacterium, even a single cell, is therefore an electromagnetic field fluctuating between positive and negative charges, and owes its life to this motion.

This motion can only be explained by the living organism’s drive to escape a state of charge, be it negative or positive, to find repose or, in other words, electro-neutrality; Absence of charge would mean the end of biochemical motion, which would be the same as death. If we call that fruitless drive “life” and the absence of that compulsion, “death”, then we could conclude that all organisms seek death. Following along these lines, we could define “life” as the eternal quest for electro-neutrality or “death”. As it happens the precise point of equilibrium is never found, so the organism ends up moving continuously from one state of charge to its opposite. In other words, it is like a scale of unbalanced equilibrium in which the organism is forced to make constant back and forth oscillations. As this fluctuation in pH continues over 24 hours, each oscillation must be not only of equal amplitude in each direction, but also of equal speed. As such, the system always leans either towards alkalosis or acidosis, in each case giving rise to different illnesses.

Imbalances in this system are found in almost all human pathologies, even more so in adult and senescent life. Only by regulating this system, when it is in an imbalanced state, can health be restored.

People buying glutathione supplements are wasting their money since this amino acid is broken down in the stomach the same way the stomach acid breaks down meat for digestion.

13. As with most things in life, it is true here as well: talk is cheap. Many companies claim their products increase Glutathione inside the cell. However most companies have no scientific evidence their products increase intracellular Glutathione. They will say the ingredients in their products should increase Glutathione.

Did you know the most powerful antioxidant is not in fruits or drinks?

I wanted to post this article regarding Diabetes as it is a very serious health issue.  More than 23.6 million people have diabetes in the United States, and this includes children? That’s around 7.8% of the population in America.

Sometimes a simple fall or stumble can be a stroke and can go innocently undetected.   Here are some warning signs.

1. Severe headache with no known cause.
2. Dizziness, trouble walking, and loss of balance or coordination.
3. Loss of vision in one or both eyes.
4. Confusion or trouble understanding or speaking.
5. Weakness or numbness of the face, arm or leg-especially on one side of the body.

Here is an easy way to recognize a Stroke.

READ, LEARN & REMEMBER the ” 3 ” Steps….

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.  Unfortunately, the lack of awareness can spell disaster.  The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the individual to TALK and SPEAK a SIMPLE SENTENCE (coherently)

(i.e. It is sunny out  today.)

R *Ask the individual to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with any one of these tasks, call for emergency assistance immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Tell the individual to stick out their tongue….if their tongue is “crooked, if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.  Seek Medical Attention Immediately !
