Hello my friends
Did you know that …… In 1904, the average American consumed about 4 or 5 pounds of refined sugar every year. Today, Americans consume close to that amount of refined sugar every week! Aside from causing an explosion of diabetes and obesity, this massive upsurge in sugar consumption has a direct effect on the proliferation of cancer.
I wanted to post this article regarding Diabetes as it is a very serious health issue. More than 23.6 million people have diabetes in the United States, and this includes children? That’s around 7.8% of the population in America.
The prevalence of diabetes has reached epidemic proportions.
It doesn’t have to be. It is usually treated with medications but those with diabetes can live a healthy life providing they adhere to proper food diet, supplements and exercise. Diabetes is a serious condition and can actually be labeled as a killer.
What is diabetes? ………. Diabetes is a disease that when your body does not produce enough insulin to break down sugar in the bloodstream.
It is a disease that you can get if you do not eat properly or take care of your body. It affects how your body uses blood glucose, commonly called blood sugar. Glucose is vital to your health because it’s the main source of energy for the cells that make up your muscles and tissues. Genetics can play a part in diabetes as well.
Type 1 Diabetes, is generally diagnosed in children, teenagers, or young adults…known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin, a hormone needed to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy.
Type 2 Diabetes, once known as adult-onset or non insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition that affects the way your body metabolizes sugar (glucose), your body’s main source of fuel and can usually be controlled with a healthy diet & exercise.
How would I know that I have this disease called diabetes?
If you have family history of diabetes, let your doctor know so he/she can conduct random testing. Urine and Blood lab tests are used to diagnose Diabetes.
What are some symptoms of Diabetes?
Frequent urination, unusual excessive thirst, extreme hunger, unusual weight loss, extreme fatigue and irritability, blurred vision, slow healing cuts and bruises, frequent infections, tingling or numbness in your hands or feet.
Unfortunately, the disease is not partial. The disease targets young and old alike. Complications can include putting the person at risk of blindness, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke, kidney disease, neuropathy, lower limb amputation and death.
Start today…keeping your body in a healthy state with a more natural food diet (eliminate sugar and all processed and fast foods) and begin a consistent exercise program….walking is excellent.
